Myth #1:  Phone Psychics Are Scams

This is the granddaddy of them all, so I figured I would start with this myth first.  To be fair, in any profession or field where there is potential financial gain to be made from gaming the system, there will be sly dogs and shylocks.  This is one of those fields.  Because of its understandably dubious nature, psychic readings tend to get an air of illegitimacy to them.  Some people think that all you have to do is make up a bunch of baloney about what you see in someone’s future or ‘tell them what they want to hear’ type of stuff. For some people, this may be good enough.  But, if you truly want any real guidance from your phone psychic, then they have to be better than just giving you a smoke and mirrors show.

Myth #2:  Anyone Can Become A Phone Psychic

While even a phone psychic themselves will tell you that we all have some level of psychic ability, that it does take some time developing that skill to be able to offer people real advice that can benefit them.  Some call it a sixth sense or extrasensory perception, it is really a way of being able to tap into our energetic intelligence to find answers to the questions we have in life.  To the degree that we cannot connect to that higher intelligence, then we may need assistance from someone else who can – a psychic or psychic clairvoyant – to help us creatively find the answers we seek.  It is also true, however, that there are some unscrupulous large ‘phone psychic mills’ that are just after churning minutes on people’s phone lines to build up a large bill and pad the owner’s pockets.  These places will employ near everyone with some type of minor background check and a ‘sample reading’ they will have you do.  It’s too bad that these larger companies have the loudest voices as well.

Myth #3:  Phone Psychic Readings Are Expensive

This is one of those relative things.  Depending upon how much of a need you have to find an answer to your burning question, then the fees may seem quite fair and reasonable.  However, if you are looking to just spend a little time talking to someone on the phone, then you will definitely think that it is too expensive.  Think about it in terms relative to what it is costing you in terms of money, time and emotional stress not having a clear path to finding the answers you seek.  If you think that having a guide for the answers you are seeking, then it may not seem as expensive as you once thought.

Some individuals have a keen sense of seeing images and answers that are not readily seen by others.  We use the term clairvoyance to describe this particular ability to see things more clearly.  In some cases, the term psychic clairvoyant is used to describe this type of ability.  These terms are interchangeable.  Similarly, the term clairaudience is a term used to describe someone’s ability to hear messages coming through.  It is common for people with this skill to hear voices and other audible (to them) sounds as messages from another plane of consciousness.  Likewise, clairsentience is the term used to describe the ability to feel things.  This is a sense that something is present or will be happening.  These “extra” sensory abilities are highly refined in psychics.  They would tell you that we all have such abilities, it is simply a matter of tuning into them.

Trans Medium Channels

A medium or channel is an individual psychic that has the ability to be a vessel through which beings or higher consciousness or what ever other term the individual may use to name their guides can be heard.  The trans medium channel is really simply opening themselves up to this higher plane of consciousness that then is able to manifest itself through their physical body.

Through ‘opening themselves up’ this way, mediums are often able channel several guides, spirits or other consciousness in a variety of means.  Some have different voices than their normal speaking voice or intonation.  Others take on a presence of someone or some other type of energy.  A medium may also be perfectly comfortable sitting or standing and speaking with you as a face-to-face interaction.  Other mediums speak to large groups at ones.  Yet others find that dialoging with their eyes closed is how they naturally channel their guides.

So, you see, a medium is simply another form of psychic.  These types of psychics can work with you by phone or even do an email psychic reading.  Though, with channels, the way that the messages come through is often vocal.  That is to say, the way that most psychic mediums relay their message or channel their guides is by way of voice.  This is not to say that one cannot channel through writing, it is just not as common practice.

Recently, I had my chart read.  This was a unique experience for me in several ways, I’ll get to those.  First, let me tell you or re-emphasize the fact that there are several ways to have a psychic reading.  All of these readings could fall into some broader category of astrology I guess, but if that term rubs you the wrong way, not to worry.

See, I recently had a professional astrologer read my natal chart.  It was an interesting experience, one that I haven’t had done before.  For one thing, he was using what seemed to me like some pretty sophisticated computer software that made all the information I provided him seamlessly integrated into his Macbook.  I’m not sure how psychics used to do this in the ‘old days.’  They must have been drawing charts by hand for hours!  In any event, when I gave him my exact time of birth from my birth certificate, the chart reflected this to him – and pictorially to me as well.  I like pictures.  I’m a visual and kinesthetic learner, so that helped.  This isn’t to say that I won’t be going over my psychic reading several times to pick up the finer points – oh, he recorded it for me to listen to.  This is definitely something I would recommend if you have the opportunity.

What Do Phone Psychics Have To Do With My Natal Chart?

Nothing really.  Well, except for this interesting bit of synchronicity or universal coincidence.  I was just telling him that I write about phone psychics and psychic clairvoyance and this sort of stuff as we were doing the reading.  Then, he mentioned that he happens to do that type of reading as well.  I found that pretty interesting.  I believe that where we put our energy and attention in life, we always get things to move in that direction.  It’s really just an immutable law of the universe.  So, in a way, you could say that it was inevitable or destined in some fashion.

Back to my chart.  Since this was my first experience with this particular type of chart reading, I found it a bit challenging to process all that he was saying at the time.  He did recommend that I go over my reading again in 3 weeks and then again 3 weeks after that – mentioning something more powerful with the 3 week sequence of re-listening.

I had never had a tarot card reading using the Voyage Tarot cards.  These cards are really unique.  With their vibrant colors and pictures or symbols, part of the reading is to pick up, energetically, what the cards represent to you.  The idea is you pick the cards that are just right for you at this point in time, at this point in your life.  There are no right or wrong or bad cards.  They simply allow you to reflect on what path you are living.

What Did My Psychic Reading Reveal?

I’m a little superstitious or shy I guess you could say about such things.  Actually, there is nothing to hide, it’s just information to take in and utilize however you can integrate it into your life.  Sometimes, what you learn or discover will offer you the opportunity to drastically change your life.  Other times, some refinement in planning or timing of events and experiences will be all that is suggested as a way to give you the greatest benefit.  It is all based upon your natal chart.  It is similar to a road map in many ways.  There are these signs that you can follow or you can ignore.  If you follow the signs and pay attention to timing, you will get to where you want to go much more effortlessly.  This is just one path we can follow.

An older phone will not help you connect with past lives.

What came up was that we were talking about whether a face-to-face reading was more beneficial than either psychic readings by phone or email psychic readings.  In the end, the results can be very similar.  But, each type has its own benefit. For example, a reading where you are in the presence of the psychic can be beneficial in that your body language, tone of voice (over an email reading), and general senses can be better read than either over the phone or by email.

A live psychic as it’s often referred, will also be able to physically touch your hand or head or some other part of the body that can be helpful at times.  It isn’t necessary, but some popular psychics will do this.  A phone reading has the overall benefit of convenience.  You can call any number of free psychics and have them do a reading for you at most regular hours in a day.  Some may also provide audio copies of your reading so you can listen to it over and over for the details you may have missed during the call.

Similarly, this is the greatest benefit of the email reading – the ability to have a written copy to read again and again.  You can literally look at the words and answers in the reading itself.  Again, you’ll remember that in an email it is harder to convey feelings and definitely body language and tone.  These qualities can provide useful information to some psychics.  Some readings may be less clear or informative without this bit of ‘evidence’ from your voice or body language.  While emotions can come through with bold and caps and emoticons, it simply isn’t the same thing.  The most significant benefit though is its ‘hard copy’ nature if you will.  While phone psychics have the greatest benefit for most because of their convenience and ease, email readings are becoming more popular as our technological lives keep evolving.

So, while we may be born with the ability to read, it still takes more practice, patience and dedication than anything else.  It wouldn’t be fair to say that some are just luckier than others.  Their ability to be give accurate psychic readings has more to do with their ability to pay fine attention and focus on subtle energies than others possess.  It’s like listening to a fifth grader play their first violin solo versus the virtuoso who is performing at Carnegie Hall.  One is at the beginning of their practice, the other has been fine tuning their skill for many years.

Now, in order to more highly develop your clairvoyance and ability to deliver better and better readings, you’ll be well served to begin a meditation practice.  If you are already meditating, then you have a step-up in connecting with the part of you that will grow to help you become one of the real psychics.  Meditating helps you to connect with what many call the universal mind, higher self, cosmic consciousness and many other names.  It is, quite simply, that part of us that connects with that part this is all of us.

Now it may be more clear why we don’t have to be face-to-face with a psychic to have or give a reading.  These readings can be in the form of email psychic readings or just as common, if not more, as psychic phone readings.  The essence is the same.  By connecting with the other person on the phone or over the internet, our universal minds or spirits are connecting and communicating in a dimension that is not as clearly visible to the untrained or practiced individual.  Phone psychics clearly have a trained skill that is essential to helping their clients to live with more clarity and comfort in their lives.

Help from a phone psychic is just a call away...

Step One
Do a search for “phone psychics”.  OK, you’ve probably done this or you wouldn’t be here right? (it’s almost like I’m psychic – just kidding, far from it, that’s why I rely on the experts).  This will likely turn up many sites, over 300,000 at last count.  So, what do you do next?  I don’t recommend going through all of them.  Start by either writing a few sites down and check with friends, or what I’d really recommend…

Step Two
Determine the specialty you are after.  For example, you’re looking for relationship advice or you have career path questions – use these topics to refine your search.  You’ll probably end up seeing several links that catch your eye.  When you find some that you feel comfortable with, or have particular specialties that speak to you, then…

Step Three
Read samples of their other readings or advice to clients.  You may be able to see psychic readings online or it may be possible to request a sample of their previous work.  Don’t be shy, you can treat this like any other professional relationship.  It is your life and advice after all, right?!  Once you’ve seen what else they have done and are happy with those results or it resonates with your personality…

Step Four
Contact the telephone psychics either online or by the number listed and ask if you will have access to an audio recording of your session.  Some psychics will also provide you with a written copy (this is much more common when getting email psychic readings – basically, because they already ARE written to you – by email).  Hopefully, your chosen psychic will be able to provide you an audio copy.  This will help you because you will be able to listen to it several times in order to get all the information from it.  It’s like that saying about learned material having to be heard like 7 times before it sinks in.  And finally…

Step Five
Find out what they charge and how they do it.  Many will take credit/debit cards and process your cards through reputable companies or processors.  Also, find out if they charge per minute or per hour, per session, etc.  The rates vary quite wildly and there are some creative psychics that have unique paying options.  I still haven’t found the ‘pay only on true prediction’ style yet.  We can only hope…
